Definition and Function
The gas turbine box, as the main load-bearing and connecting part of a gas turbine engine, usually refers to the housing part of the compressor section, also known as Compressor Vane Carrier (CVC). It not only surrounds and protects the internal compressor, combustion chamber and other key components, but also undertakes multiple functions such as introducing air into the compressor, directing airflow, dissipating heat and providing structural support.
Structural Characteristics
Thin-walled rotary structure: the main structure of the gas turbine box is usually a thin-walled rotary, which not only reduces the weight, but also meets the needs of load bearing and connection.
Multi-layer structure: in some high-pressure pressurized gas turbines, the magazine may adopt a double-layer structure, i.e., the force-bearing magazine is outside, and the magazine that maintains the airflow channel is inside, which is conducive to the active control of the magazine's expansion and clearance with the rotor blades.
Functional components attached: the internal and external surfaces of the magazine are attached to a number of functional components, such as the internal pressurizer, combustion chamber, etc., external exhaust piping, cooling pipes, oil lines, etc., these components work together to ensure the normal operation of the engine.
Material selection and manufacturing process
High-temperature-resistant materials: Since the gas turbine box needs to work under the extreme environment of high temperature and high pressure, high-temperature-resistant, high-strength and high-stiffness materials, such as titanium alloy and high-temperature alloy, are usually selected.
Precision manufacturing process: The manufacturing of gas turbine magazines involves a variety of advanced processes, such as precision casting, precision forging, electron beam welding, etc., in order to ensure the dimensional accuracy, surface quality and material properties of the magazines.
